Which supporting details need review?
A carrier-approved switch may change the shipper shown on the bill. Supporting rate confirmations and booking documents can still identify that supplier.
Freight charges and surcharges on supporting documents can show the customer exactly what you paid. Remove only amounts that the recipient does not need or have a right to inspect.
Booking numbers and internal references can connect documents to the same shipment. Keep references needed for the recipient's task; review the rest.
Signatures, personal contacts, and account numbers may appear in supporting paperwork. Select the details that must go before the file moves on.

A switch bill of lading is a carrier-issued replacement set. Your carrier decides which changes it accepts. Oddseal does not issue, amend, or switch a bill. Its role is preparing separate copies of supporting commercial paperwork. Rate confirmations, booking documents, and agreements can still carry original names, rates, and references. Oddseal removes the details you select and checks the redacted PDF before sharing.
Keep the operative bill and required authority-bound records complete. A redacted commercial copy does not replace them.
What does Oddseal check before you share switch paperwork?

Two rules stay fixed. Your carrier must issue the switch set. Oddseal cannot switch a bill for you. Documents sent to customs or another authority must remain complete and unredacted. Use redaction only for limited copies accepted by commercial recipients. Oddseal records what changed, but the choice to use a switch B/L belongs to you and your carrier.

- Ask the carrier about its switch procedure. Maersk’s published process includes surrendering the original set and requesting the replacement; requirements depend on the carrier and shipment.
- Prepare a commercial PDF copy
- Use the house B/L example and rate-confirmation example to decide which fields a particular recipient needs. This is the redaction job Oddseal supports.
- Request confidential treatment of U.S. manifest data
- Follow CBP’s vessel-manifest confidentiality process. Editing a PDF does not submit that request or remove information already published elsewhere.
